Meet Rachael Goodman, FNP

Hi, my name is Rachael Goodman, I'm a family nurse practitioner that has been enthralled with all things functional health since I entered the healthcare world around 20 years ago. I've always felt this ache in the pit of my stomach that there's something missing, something we weren't addressing with our patients. I'm also a wife and mama to two girls and I want more than anything in the world, to keep them safe and healthy and make sure they have the ability to experience life to their fullest potential. Vital Roots Functional Health and Wellness LLC is a virtual telehealth practice that is going to change the way you live while giving you back the life you've been searching for. I understand the struggle to want to feel your best, look your best, and perform your best but something (you can't put your finger on it) is preventing you from achieving that. It's incredibly disheartening when you go to your medical provider and you're told everything is normal, when you're feeling anything but that.

When I'm not practicing functional health, I'm enjoying time with my family. My husband and I have found a new love for exploring the outdoors. My girls keep me on my toes with cooking, baking, and crafts. My oldest is about to graduate from nursing school and I can't even begin to tell you how incredible it has been to watch her conquer this endeavor. I have a dog "Charlie" (sheepadoodle, girl) and an orange tabby cat "Bruno".I love to read all the things and run. I'm currently training for my first FULL marathon in the fall 2025. I also listen to several podcasts that range from book recommendations, functional health, and running tips.

Why Vital Roots?

Because getting well isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about going to the source—your root causes, your daily habits, and your unique biology—to build a foundation that lasts. We use food as medicine, reduce environmental toxins, support your body with movement, and take a whole-person approach to healing.

When I attended the Integrative Healthcare Symposium, someone asked Dr. David Perlmutter how he measures health. His answer was one word— resiliency. The power that your body has to bounce back when exposed to toxins in the environment, stress, and disease. I felt that in my core.

To me, wellness is  giving your body the tools it needs to become strong, steady, and resilient—so you’re not just getting by, but living fully. That’s the heart of functional medicine. And that’s what we’re here to do, together.
